Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
People with GAD often feel worried and anxious most of the time. GAD is common within all age groups with no exception of children and older people. People with GAD often have other related disorders such as, depression, social phobia and panic disorder and may also misuse drugs and experience a range of physical health problems such as, irritable bowel syndrome or heart disease. In Australia, 2.7% of the population experience GAD each year and nearly 6% of the population will experience the disorder in their lifetime.
