Panic Disorder
Panic Attacks are common, up to 40% of the population will experience a panic attack at some time in their life. Common signs and symptoms of a panic attack include:
Panic Disorder is when these attacks happen more frequently than not and can be characterised by:
- sense of overwhelming panic/fear
- thought that you're dying, choking, 'losing control' and/or 'going mad'
- increased heart rate
- breathing difficulties
- feeling choked
- excessive perspiration
- dizziness, light-headedness or feeling faint
Panic Disorder is when these attacks happen more frequently than not and can be characterised by:
- reoccurring and unexpected panic attacks
- worrying for at least a month that another one may occur
- worrying that panic attacks may lead to something more serious
- Significant behavioural changes that are panic attack related
