Prevention
This is a list of tips that can help you stop and prevent your own anxiety:
- Set a time of the day (e.g. 5:00pm-5:25pm) where you can ponder and worry about whatever you need to worry about. This time should be set so it is early enough not to keep you awake at night.
- Ask yourself if you can solve the problem. Thinking about possible solutions easily distracts you from the problem and helps stop worrying.
- Learn to accept uncertainty because there isn't always going to be a time where there are answers.
- Retrain your brain and challenge the anxious thoughts so you can look at the world as a paradise and not the dangerous place it seems to be in your head.
- Talk to people about everything you're thinking. Make sure they don't mind listening and make your talk short and sweet in way where you get everything off your chest but don't drain out the other person.
- Anxiety gives you adrenaline, so do an aerobic activity to help use up that adrenaline.
- Listen to calming music.
- Do things you love and know will get your mind off of what is making you so anxious.
